While some symptoms and conditions may be diagnosed, treated and/or monitored from a health history and physical exam alone, others may require additional lab work. Dr. Fialk typically uses Quest or Labcorp for standard diagnostic lab work and diagnostic imaging services are ordered through various outpatient imaging centers depending upon the type of image needed.

 

Functional Medicine Lab Evaluation

Specialty functional medicine lab panels go beyond the standard of care to help reveal dysfunctional physiologic processes contributing to or causing your symptoms/condition. These labs may be used to assist in the formulation of a personalized protocol to treat or prevent various health problems. Functional medicine labs may also be a helpful tool for those whose symptoms and standard lab work do not match up with a conventional medical diagnosis. Dr. Fialk commonly uses a variety of functional medicine labs from: Cyrex, Diagnos Techs, Diagnostic solutions, DUTCH test, Labrix/Doctors data, Genova, Great Plains/Mosaic, NUNM SIBO Institute, Spectracell, US Biotek, ZRT, among others.

 

Common areas for assessment include: 

• Nutritional evaluation for deficiencies

• Comprehensive digestive analysis

• Gastrointestinal tract microbiome assessment

• Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Breath testing

• “Leaky Gut” evaluation

• Food sensitivity testing
